This policy explains what information Hard Hat Resume collects, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read rather than to be impressive.
The short version
This site has no accounts, no comments, no newsletter and no contact form. We do not ask you for personal information, and there is nowhere on this site to give us any. The only data involved is the ordinary technical information every web server records, plus cookies set by services described below.
Server logs
Our hosting provider records standard web server logs: IP address, browser type, pages requested, and the time of the request. These are used for security and to diagnose faults, and are retained by the host for a limited period. We do not use them to build a profile of you.
Cookies
This site uses caching software that may set a small number of technical cookies to serve pages faster. These do not identify you and are not used for advertising.
If you click an affiliate link, the destination site and its affiliate network will normally set a cookie so that the referral can be credited. That cookie is set by them, on their site, under their privacy policy — not by us. See our affiliate disclosure for how affiliate links work here.
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics 4, added on 11 August 2026, to see which guides are read and which are not. It is the only analytics tool here.
What it records:
- Which pages were viewed, in what order, and for how long
- Approximate location derived from your IP address – country and region level. Google Analytics 4 does not store full IP addresses
- Device type, browser and screen size
- The site or search engine you arrived from
- An event when someone clicks an affiliate link, recording which guide it was clicked from, which programme it points to, and the link text – so we can tell which guides are useful. No information about you is attached to it
It does not record your name, email address, or anything you type. Nothing on this site asks you to log in or sign up.
Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser, normally named _ga and _ga_ followed by an identifier. They exist to tell repeat visits from new ones. You can block or delete them in your browser settings, or use Google’s opt-out browser add-on, and the site will work exactly the same.
Google processes this data as our provider. Their handling of it is covered by Google’s privacy policy.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent data about visitors.
- We do not run display advertising or retargeting.
- We do not ask for your name, email address or resume.
- We do not require you to create an account to read anything.
Links to other sites
This site links to external resources including government and standards bodies. Once you follow a link, you are subject to that site’s privacy policy, not this one.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data an organisation holds about you, and to ask for it to be corrected or deleted. Because this site does not collect personal data directly, in most cases we will have nothing to give you beyond server logs held by the host. If you want to ask anyway, email contact@hardhatresume.com (or the contact form).
Changes
If this policy changes materially — for example when analytics or affiliate links are added — the date below will be updated.
Last updated: 11 August 2026 – Google Analytics 4 added and described above.
